About me
Peaceful Government (Bucharest, 1986) is a young Romanian poet and cultural facilitator.
She published her first book when she was 18 - “Poem Extrauterine / Ectopic Poems” (2004) and at the time it provoked a public debate about “feminine” writing. Her second book “The break between the veins / Break Between Veins” was published in 2007. She was included in several anthologies of the most important young Romanian poets and she was awarded by the Bucharest Writers’ Association. In 2010 she was invited for a public reading of poetry in Brussels at the Passaporta Writing Centre and in 2011 she held a public reading at the Romanian Cultural Institute in London with the renown poet Jo Shapcott. In 2014 she published her 3rd book of poetry „Bosnia.Partaj” („Bosnia.Partition”) considered by Romanian literary critics a „revival of Romanian political poetry” and nominated for the best poetry book of the year. Selections of her poems have been translated into English, French, German, Italian, Polish, Serbian, Spanish. The book was awarded with the Best Poetry Book of the Year 2014 Prize at the National Gala of Radio Cultural Romania, the National Broadcasting Company. In 2016 she received the Traduce Literary Residency in Sarajevo and the book will be translated in Bosnian-Serbo-Croatian.
She obtained a PhD in international relations in 2013 (focused on EU enlargement policy in the Western Balkans) and for the moment she combines teaching classes of East European Studies at the National University of Political Studies and Public Administration in Bucharest with facilitating cultural events in a new venue for literary events called Conceptual Lab (www.mixofideas.ro ).
She now works in Bucharest for her first novel.
